SUMMARY:Marsh Scott Talks Public Art
DESCRIPTION:Thursday October 10\, 2024 from 5:30-7:00pm \nEveryone who likes public art will love meeting sculptor Marsh Scott. She will share fascinating behind-the-scenes stories and photos of her stainless steel and aluminum works installed throughout the United States. \nLocally\, her pieces in the City of Laguna Beach public art collection include “Colors of the Canyon” on Broadway near Forest Ave. The spectacular fence\, measuring 72 feet long\, features undulating steel panels inset with vibrantly colored glass whose production was assisted by local artist Maggie Spencer. Another is “Steps in the Sand” at Crescent Bay Villas\, 1575 N. Coast Highway in north Laguna. Commuters heading into town view the metal wall panels with cutouts of figures from an indigenous American\, to a Spanish padre\, to present day residents. SUMMARY:Artsgiving ~ LOCA's Annual Member's Brunch
DESCRIPTION:LOCA invites everyone to Artsgiving\, its annual brunch\, art event\, and festive membership gathering. A group art project\, the Artsgiving Tree is available now for everyone regardless of attendance (see below). \nParty-goers will feast on mimosas and a scrumptious homemade brunch buffet. Everyone will be fascinated by a lively paint-around performance by Hedy Buzan\, Elizabeth McGhee\, and Lisa Rainey\, as they paint and pass canvases between themselves. The finished art will be up for bidding\, along with other silent auction items from The Shops at Pottery Place\, Forest Avenue Promenade\, Rock Martin Jewelry\, Art and Soul\, and more. \nEveryone will mingle with LOCA’s officers\, board of directors\, and teachers\, and learn about upcoming classes and events. “Artsgiving is our board members way of giving thanks to our members for their support\,” said Rich Fair\, LOCA Vice President. \nLOCA’s Artsgiving Tree group art project is now open and growing! The fundraiser is perfect for everyone attending\, and those unable to attend\, the brunch event. Names of all who donate will appear on individual ceramic leaves which will be hung on our centerpiece tree during Artsgiving. As a thank you from LOCA\, all donors will be gifted their leaves\, listed as contributors in our eNewsletter\, and entered into our drawing to win a luxurious stay at The Resort at Pelican Hill\, Newport Beach. The winner\, announced upon close of the event\, need not be present. \n To add a leaf or branch\, simply donate now through October 17. Suggested donations are: leaf $50 to $500\, and branch $1\,000.
