DESCRIPTION:During the first class Reem will teach the art of merging silk and wool together in an artistic composition. Nunofelting incorporates several layers of loose fibers combined to build up color\, texture and design elements into a finished piece. \nIn the second class students will learn how to make Organic Indigo dye vat and original patterns using the ancient technique Shibori. In this workshop\, students will learn the fundamentals of Shibori pattern making and how to create a variety of patterns. \nTeacher: Reem Khalil \nThis class is held on two consecutive Wednesdays in the Art Room of the Susi Q. \nThis Class is part of LOCA’s Senior Art Escapes program at the Susi Q. DESCRIPTION:LOCA Arts Education invites everyone to its Annual Members Meeting on Sunday September 23\, 11:00am-1:00pm at the Healy House on the Sawdust Festival grounds at 935 Laguna Canyon Road in Laguna Beach. Street parking is available. \nThe champagne brunch will feature a tile glazing activity and an exciting talk about public murals by local artist Mike Tauber. Mike’s local paint and tile projects can be seen at Whole Foods Market\, Hagan Place apartments\, the Mermaid Street wall\, and more. He also has regional projects in Citrus Ranch Park in Tustin\, the Fullerton Transit Center\, and the Wilshire Grand Center in Los Angeles. Mike will share how his projects evolve from the studio to the street. \nAttendees will be invited to decorate a tile as part of the city-wide Festival of Mosaics program. Silhouettes of local wildlife will be glazed and fired\, and will become a part of a community public mural installation in November. The mural wall is on Glenneyre Street in front of the Neighborhood Congregational Church in Laguna Beach. \nLOCA Arts Education will also introduce its exciting schedule of art classes\, Art Club Events\, and workshops for families\, residents\, and visitors of Laguna Beach.
