Mada will be demonstrating how to make sheets of paper from cotton and mulberry bark. The cotton paper is created from short fibers. These are the short fibers left after cotton is milled for making tee shirts. The mulberry bark paper is made from the long fibers of the mulberry tree’s bark. This paper is a traditional paper called KOZO. \nWeek Two ~ Molding Paper\nThe following week students will be using the papers created during the first class. DESCRIPTION:Glass Artist John Barber Presents at LOCA Brunch      \nLOCA Arts Education invites everyone to brunch and the annual meeting on Sunday October 2\, 11:00am-1:00pm at the Healy House on the Sawdust Festival grounds. \nAttendees will enjoy a buffet style champagne brunch\, and a fascinating presentation by glass artist John Barber. He will discuss his pyrographic painting process that involves drawing on paper using hot glass\, and adding color using glass pigmented watercolors. Barber will show his shop tools\, materials\, drawing samples\, and finished fine art including coastal scenes and abstracts. To round out the fun\, an opportunity drawing will be offered\, and several fabulous art-experience packages will be auctioned. \nLOCA Arts Education is non-profit organization and all proceeds will support LOCA programs. \nAdmission is free to new and renewing members. DESCRIPTION:Two Day Workshop: Wednesdays November 9 & November 16\, 2022 from 1:00 – 4:00pm \nJoin Carolyn Machado and Mia Moore\, once again\, for their two-part collage mixed media Holiday card making class.  Learn the art of Japanese Kirigami – the folding and cutting of decorative papers. Each student will create several floral and cloud-like images and cards for sending greetings. Using your own artist vision\, artwork will be adorned and  embellished. \nCarolyn and Mia will share a wide selection of unique papers and adornments they have collected over the years. \nGet in the Holiday spirit and create keepsakes for friends and family. No experience necessary\, all levels welcome. Each student will create several floral and cloud-like images and cards for sending greetings. Using your own artist vision\, artwork will be adorned and  embellished. \nCarolyn and Mia will share a wide selection of unique papers and adornments they have collected over the years. \nGet in the Holiday spirit and create keepsakes for friends and family.
