Art in the Garden ~ Watercolors with Elizabeth McGhee

LOCA is thrilled to announce that we are back with “Art in the Garden”. Our first classes this year are Watercolors with Elizabeth McGhee.~

March 24 – Week 1: Composition and Mood – 1-4pmIn this class students will make a variety of quick watercolor sketches that will inform a more finished painting the following week. The focus will be on discovering compositions that evoke a mood or feeling.
March 31 – Week 2: Value and Color – 1-4pm
In this class students will elaborate on their chosen composition from the previous week and explore a full color palette. Watercolor pencils will be utilized for more texture techniques and rendering.
Supply list:
-Watercolor pan set- Winsor and Newton preferred, but any type will be fine (LOCA will have Prang sets available for use)
-140lb watercolor paper sketchbook, tablet, or block- any size will do
-variety of brushes (LOCA will have brushes available for use)
-watercolor pencils (LOCA will have SOME available for use)
-graphite pencil
-kneaded eraser
-artist’s tape (either 3/4” or 1/2”)
The classes will be held at a spacious garden in Mission Viejo which is about a 20 minute drive from downtown Laguna Beach. The address and location will be forwarded upon registration. Registrations will be accepted in the order they are received. The class size is limited!

Class Fee:
$50 for the both classes. The classes are $100 for non-LOCA members. Class is held from 1 to 4pm.
LOCA asks that you wear a mask and bring a hat and a sweater because you will be outdoors in a garden. Wednesday the 24th forecast is for 73 and sunny and there will be a lot of shade. Please bring your own water and a snack if you like. I will have hand sanitizer on hand, extra water and energy bars.
