Ceramics with Tessa Mansour

Two Week Class – Wednesdays: April 22 and May 6th 1:30 – 4:00pm
In this hands-on ceramics class, you’ll learn all the essential techniques of handbuilding — including pinch pots, coils, slabs, and how to score and slip. As you practice these foundational skills, you’ll get to explore your own creativity and bring your ideas to life! I’ll provide some guided project ideas to get you started, but you’ll also have the freedom to create your own unique pieces.
Once your greenware creations are complete, I’ll take them to my studio to be bisque fired. We will skip a week while your creations are fired. Then you’ll return to paint and decorate your work with colorful glazes. After the final kiln firing, your finished pieces will be food, drink, microwave, and dishwasher-safe — ready to use or gift!
This class is designed to be flexible and creative! Whether you’re shaping clay, glazing, or adding the finishing touches with paint, you can work at your own pace. Everyone is welcome — all ages and experience levels!
Fee: $50 for LOCA members / $100 for non-member
This class is held in the Art room of the Laguna Beach Community and Susi Q senior center and is sponsored by a grant from the Festival of Arts Foundation.
