LOCA's Art in Schools at Laguna Beach High School. Under the guidance of LOCA teacher, Olivia Batchelder, students painted images of sea life on silk with vibrant silk dye. The banners are on view at Seven Degrees in the Media Lounge during June's Thursday ArtWalk....
One Thin Dime – April 24, 4pm – 7pm

Elsa Brizzi has spent years instilling in children the message of her book, “You Are a Very Special You,” but on Friday she was surrounded by a room full of people saying how much those words apply to her.
LOCA Honors One of Its Own
Local arts leader Mary Ferguson, who plans to relocate to Santa Fe shortly, will be honored at the Laguna Outreach for Community Arts fundraiser, Living La Vida LOCA, from 4:30-6:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 19, at Madison Square and Garden Cafe, 320 N. Coast Highway.
Artist Finds Satisfaction in a Surprising Medium
When she is not making prints, she’s teaching art. When she’s not encouraging artistic expression among seniors, children and anyone in-between, she’s serving in a supporting role for Laguna Beach arts organizations.
Kids get crafty for book club
The young children were fidgety. Some explored bookshelves, others climbed over furniture and one tugged on a mother’s forearm in the youth wing of the library. Some knew each other as elementary school classmates, while others exhibited the age-appropriate shyness that often precedes meeting new friends.
LOCA offers Sculpture Workshop, Art Club Discussion
Artist Gretchen Shannon leads a sculpture workshop at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb., at Laguna Nursery. During the Laguna Outreach for Community Arts workshop, she will demonstrate how to assemble a hanging garden sculpture. The cost is $30 and all materials are provided.

Laguna Outreach for Community Arts invites the public to a discussion with acclaimed local painter Scott Moore, known for art works that read like glorious vintage postcards. Despite serving approximately 20,000 people since its inception in 1992, Laguna Outreach for Community Arts (LOCA) shows no signs of slowing down or becoming staid in its programming. Instead, the arts organization continues to add to its roster new and innovative offerings for participants of all ages, from preschoolers to senior citizens.
